In particular, the paper focuses on the Kuku, an ethnic group of South Sudan and the gender-based violence (GBV) program in the refugee settlements. Various studies have demonstrated that changing people’s understanding of gender or their gender situation in the context of the lives of refugees. However, previous works have shown the strong effect of aid on refugees and have described aid workers as monolithic. This paper attempts to describe the variety of people who make up a refugee settlement. It then looks at how this variety affects the relationship between aid and refugees, and the way that refugees view both gender and GBV.The main field site for this study, Adjumani, is situated in Uganda near the border with South Sudan. As of August 2017, it had 18 refugee settlements. NGO staff are based in each settlement, and NGOs have contracted refugees as incentive workers. Incentive workers are intermediaries between refugees and staff. Various kinds of relationships between staff, incentive workers, and refugees have developed within the settlements. These relationships have made the refugee/staff boundaries ambiguous and have influenced the understanding of gender and GBV among refugees. However, refugees also have their own social space that is inaccessible to aid workers ","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_10002_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.18884/00001024","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_10002_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"JICA Research Institute"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Tobinai, Yuko","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"1510","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2020-03-16"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"JICA-RI_WP_No.205.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"461.6 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_11","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"JICA-RI_WP_No.205","url":"https://jicari.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/1044/files/JICA-RI_WP_No.205.pdf"},"version_id":"a49e186a-9584-40f5-94a2-3a15398fe270"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"gender","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"gender-based violence (GBV)","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"South Sudan","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Uganda","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"aid","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"refugees","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Kukus","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"gender","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"gender-based violence (GBV)","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"South Sudan","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Uganda","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"aid","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"refugees","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Kukus","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"The Variety of People in Refugee Settlements, Gender and GBV:The Case of South Sudanese Refugees in Northern Uganda","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"The Variety of People in Refugee Settlements, Gender and GBV:The Case of South Sudanese Refugees in Northern Uganda"},{"subitem_title":"The Variety of People in Refugee Settlements, Gender and GBV:The Case of South Sudanese Refugees in Northern Uganda","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10002","owner":"18","path":["677","685"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2020-03-16"},"publish_date":"2020-03-16","publish_status":"0","recid":"1044","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["The Variety of People in Refugee Settlements, Gender and GBV:The Case of South Sudanese Refugees in Northern Uganda"],"weko_creator_id":"18","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-05-15T13:04:26.036854+00:00"}
